How long should you take probiotics for?
There’s no set answer for this one. It’s pretty individual. As long as it seems beneficial sounds vague but is truthful. I’d suggest at least one month to judge how well one formula might work for someone. Some people take them continuously, others cycle on and off from month to month.
If a baby has a natural childbirth do you still feel it’s necessary to give them probiotics?
Potentially, yes. First colonizers can come from the mother and from the environment too. Generally, probiotics are going support healthy digestion and immune development (including modulating against allergies developing).
Quantity? How do you know how many to take per day?
More capsules and larger potency will saturate the intestinal system faster. This may also cause a little more gas or sense of fullness in some people though. 1 capsule of 1 billion CFUs is a good minimum starting point to aim for. Most formulas are much higher than this. Udo’s Choice line tries to make it easier by using age group formulations and suggesting 1-3 capsules per day.
Which strain specifically lowers IL-8?
I’d recommend further reading on Pub Med for any research related to this. For example:

Which species specifically raise gut immunity secretory IgA ?
This is a fairly complex topic that I’m not an expert in. There seems to be a variety of Genera, including both Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium, that are involved. I’d recommend these two articles for further reading:

What is your knowledge of soil -based probiotics?
I have not read a great deal on soil-based probiotics but generally, I would not recommend them and don’t consider them in the same class as human adapted, gut microbes. Here’s a quick overview: https://www.hyperbiotics.com/blogs/recent-articles/15994079-the-problem-with-soil-based-organisms-sbos-as-probiotics
Would you spread them over a day?
Yes, this is a good approach when taking several capsules daily.
Hi Robert. What if someone may have reactions to potato? Is there risk of a reaction from the potato starch?
Potato allergies are not as common as other ones (corn, soy, etc.) but if someone is allergic to potato, they should be cautious. Starch is generally quite purified but from testing done, there may be up to 0.1g/100g of protein traces present.
Do you feel it’s good to take probiotics all the time or to have a break every other month?
This would be an individual choice based on the specific person’s needs. There are no specific restrictions or cautions related to duration of use I know of generally though so people certainly could stay on a probiotic all the time if they wanted to.
Is it likely that someone who has experienced significant dysbiosis may need to take probiotics on an ongoing basis; I ask in light of the comment about them only colonising for 8-10 days. I have some clients who have found it difficult to recolonise despite taking a variety of multi-strains.
Yes, this would be a good example of someone who may need to take probiotics on a more long-term, ongoing basis.
Do Udos have powder form for children who do not want capsules – or is it just in Infants blend. Can you open capsules and add to water or does this really diminish their effectiveness?
The Children’s formula has twice the CFUs as the Infant’s. The capsule can be opened and added to water if consumed right away. Alternately, twice the label dosage directions could be used with the Infant Blend.
