What can you do to help with vaginal dryness. For a 60yo female whose Vitamin D is on the floor, what is the hightest form of Vitamin D I can suggest for her with K2. Is there a certain level of Vit K2 you should use with Vitamin D3. What would you suggest for a postmenopausal woman who has Linchen Planopolaris, losing all of her hair, with no eyebrows either.
Vitamin D may help calm down the immune system if that is overactive and causing the hair loss. NHP Vitamin D is a liquid and easily absorbed so I would start with the maximum dose of around 2000ius a day – and retest her vitamin D levels in 3 months. We do not sell a separate K2 but it is included in Osteo Support.
What would you suggest for a 66 yo female who has a high Rhumatoid Factor 19 with the highest of standard is 14. She also has a very high level of GGT while her other Liver markers seem to be ok.
We would look at gut health to check for leaky gut or a food intolerance causing the immune system to overreact, support the liver if GGT is high – we sell NHP Liver Support which is beneficial.
What probiotic would you suggest for UTI’s
You can use NHP Advanced Probiotic as it has a blend of beneficial bacteria. But also adding in something like cranberry extract.
When would you use the black cohosh supplement?
This would be used when someone is having hot flushes and night sweats but not if they are on HRT
Is NHP’s Meno Herbal Support suitable for someone with histamine issues? I’m just thinking of the fermented soya
If they are known to react to Soya then I would use NHP Black Cohosh instead as long as they are not on HRT
What does Marilyn think of seed cycling to try and balance hormones running up to menopause? For symptomatic 50 year old
The seeds involved in seed cycling like flaxseed and sunflower seeds have many health benefits but there have been no clinicals trials on seed cycling and it will also depend on the client’s digestive system to break down the components that are needed. Also there are concerns that this protocol will increase omega 6 and a pro-inflammatory response. Oestrogen has anti-inflammatory effects so as this decreases at menopause, it is important to make sure that her omega 6/3 ratio is within the normal range. We feel using herbs like Agnus Castus have a better effect on balancing hormones during this stage. NHP’s Agnus Castus Premium Support is a blend of herbs and nutrients that can be very effective.
Is 50yrs too late to start building bone density through walking?
Not at all, but it does depend on the bone health in question. It is always good to know your bone score, so you know what plan is needed nutritionally and physically.
Should we supplement with calcium or assess vitamin d status?
We always recommend knowing what your vitamin D levels are, so you know how much you need.
Are there any side effects to using sage for hot flashes/night sweats?
– We have not seen any side effects, but we use a blend of nutrients rather than just one.
What is the best way to diagnose perimenopause?
You can get a blood test at your GP or it comes down to symptoms – hot flushes, cycle changes etc.
I wonder if neurodivergent women can use HRT along medication?
This would be a question for a GP as we do not prescribe medication.
Are all these supplements ok to be taken alongside HRT?
Yes, but not Black Cohosh or Agnus Castus
