Questions and Answers
‘What would you use for fungal nails?’
Fungal nail infections can be difficult to deal with and usually require intervention. Internally, NutraMedix® Cumanda (Campsiandra angustifolia) tincture might help, as might Rio Amazon® Pau d’Arco (Tabebuia impetiginosa). Black Seed Oil (by epigenar®) also has shown effect against fungal infections. Each of these can also be used topically: Cumanda is available as a tincture and can be applied locally on the nail at night before bedtime, covering it with a plaster. This would be first choice recommendation. Other options include: Pau d’Arco tea which could be made, cooled, and the cold teabag used topically, and Black Seed Oil which can be applied topically. Green Clay in the epigenar® range can also be applied to the nail. Adding cinnamon may boost the effect. Other possible internal and/or topical applications for fungal nail infections include apple cider vinegar, oregano oil, coconut oil, olive leaf extract and some essential oils.
In addition, preventive measures listed in the webinar presentation slide should be considered, including avoidance of artificial nails. Immune and detox support should absolutely be considered: ensure vitamin D at optimal levels, consider vitamins A & E, and support immune health with vitamin C and probiotics. Herbs like Andrographis (epigenar® Kalmegh) may benefit.
Nail (and skin and hair) health can be supported with orthosilicic acid and other minerals in Silidyn®, a fantastic liquid product that gives 8-10 weeks supply. And omega essential fatty acids (epigenar® Blackcurrant Seed Oil) may benefit skin and nail health.
‘How does one establish which mould is in the home?’
The presence of moulds can be tested, however, I am sorry to say, I have no experience of use of such tests. I warmly invite all registered Rio Health Practitioners to share with our online community their suggestions as to how moulds in the home can be tested.
