‘Quenching the Fire: Inflammation and Infertility, a troublesome twosome’
The first 38 weeks of human life spent in the allegedly protected environment of the amniotic sac are medically more eventful and more fraught with danger than the next 38 years in the lifespan of most human individuals.i
Consider the following:
• Children whose mothers had the highest levels of phthalates in their urine during the 8th month of pregnancy had IQs that were 6.7 to 7.4 points lower at age 7 compared to children whose mothers had the lowest levels of phthalates.ii
• 59% of men attending an infertility clinic have glyphosate levels 4 fold higher in the semen than in the blood creating excessive oxidative stress and DNA damage iii
• In women attending an infertility clinic, those in the highest category of daily conventional fruit and vegetable consumption, compared to those in the lowest category, those in the highest category had an 18% lower probability of clinical pregnancy and 26% lower probability of live birth.iv
• WHAT? The higher the consumption of conventional fruits and vegetables, the higher the rate of miscarriages and stillbirths. YES!
• 86% of the children of mothers with IgG antibodies to 2 fetal brain proteins were diagnosed with autistic regressionv
Dr Tom O’Bryan explains why it’s imperative to prepare our bodies for a healthy conception and pregnancy. A mom’s first role is to create a healthy environment for an embryo to implant and for a fetus to grow into a robust healthy baby. And a father’s first role is to create ‘spermatic virility’-strong, optimally healthy sperm. Research clearly shows that exposure and accumulation of environmental toxins leads to inflammation, extensive oxidative stress, and altered DNA, which is passed along to the growing fetus impacting on growth and development. Yet these can be mitigated and reversed with the right tools, which are identified in this talk.
Learning objectives:
- Empower anyone planning IVF or egg freezing to inquire into their toxic load and inflammatory state before beginning the process
- Encourage moms-and-dads-to-be that they can make small but important shifts in their own health to improve the health of their progeny.
- Provide tools and resources to improve physical, hormonal, and emotional health prior to IVF or egg freezing (or natural
conception).

He is the founder of theDr.com which was created to educate the public about under-diagnosed and under-treated gluten-related disorders, which affect up to 65% of the population. He views the lack of recognition, accurate diagnosis and treatment of these disorders as a massive public health crisis.
Dr O’Bryan serves on the faculty of the Institute of Functional Medicine and the National University of Health Sciences. His Certified Gluten Practitioner course revolutionizes the way healthcare professionals and coaches diagnose and treat patients suffering from gluten-related disorders. Dr O’Bryan founded and hosted the world’s first Gluten Summit, theGlutenSummit.com, where he interviewed 29 experts and opinion leaders on the topic of gluten-related health issues.
Dr O’Bryan is always one of the most respected, highly-appreciated speakers. His passion is in teaching the many manifestations of Gluten Sensitivity and Celiac Disease as they occur inside and outside of the intestines.
Dr O’Bryan is a graduate of the University of Michigan and the National College of Chiropractic. He is a Diplomate of the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners, a Diplomate of the Clinical Nutrition Board of the American Chiropractic Association, and a Certified Clinical Nutritionist with the International & American Associations of Clinical Nutritionists. He is a Certified Applied Kinesiologist as well as a Certified Practitioner in Functional Biomechanics from the Motion Palpation Institute. He is a member of, and on the teaching faculty board of The Institute for Functional Medicine, the International & American Associations of Clinical Nutritionists, the American Chiropractic Association, the International Academy of Preventive Medicine, and numerous other professional organizations. In the Institute for Functional Medicine’s hallmark program Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice (AFMCP), he teaches about . Using the tools of applied kinesiology, laboratory, and functional medicine, Dr O’Bryan assists patients in reclaiming their health with an emphasis on diet and nutrition. This provides a motivating and successful game plan for patients who previously suffered from debilitating symptoms, high risk for disease, and frustrating medical problems. Dr O’Bryan has been a Visiting Instructor at Northeastern Illinois University, where he taught “Applied Nutrition for Health and Performance.” He is a Visiting Instructor at the National University of Health Sciences. He is the Vice President of the Illinois Chapter of the International & American Associations of Clinical Nutritionists. ‘Darkness of Light Exposure: Light, Circadian Rhythms, and Microbiota for Chronic Disease Management’
This lecture will connect the science behind light exposure/composition, circadian biology, and microbiota modulation, to empower participants to leverage these tools for managing chronic diseases.
The interplay between light exposure, circadian rhythms, and gut microbiota represents an exciting and transformative frontier in health optimisation. The evolution of indoor lighting—from the warm glow of early incandescent bulbs to the spectrum-variable LED lights of today—has introduced significant challenges to human health, disrupting biological clocks through blue-rich light exposure and contributing to chronic conditions such as diabetes, obesity, inflammatory diseases, cardiovascular disorders, and even cancer.
Drawing inspiration from the latest research in the field of circadian & sleep medicine, this presentation examines the profound impact of light spectra on human physiology, the historical progression of indoor lighting technologies, and the distinctions between various artificial light sources. By integrating these insights with the latest research on the microbiota–gut–brain axis, the session will illuminate how targeted interventions—including the use of pre-, pro-, and postbiotics—can synchronise circadian rhythms, enhance sleep quality, and mitigate the adverse effects of “junk light.”
This lecture will focus on practical, evidence-based protocols for optimising both indoor lighting environments and microbiome health, offering actionable strategies for clinicians and health practitioners. Attendees will gain guidance on selecting and utilising healthier light sources, understanding the differences between lighting technologies, and employing microbiome-focused interventions to improve patient outcomes.
